Cancer (Patient Information)

Life changes after a cancer diagnosis, not only for the patient but also for the family, friends and caregivers of the patient.  All the circle of individuals surrounding a patient will have many challenges to face. On top of choosing an oncologist, you will have to make decisions about treatment and deal with side effects, absence from work, financial and family issues. Caregivers also have many challenges including increased stress.  Cancer is a very evil disease, affecting all aspects of life that are enjoyable. The disease can cause loving relationships to be stressed to point of breaking, personalities can change due to the drugs and effects of the cancer, the disease takes away the desire to be intimate, removes the desire to eat and overwhelms with a deep sense of tiredness.

Most important thing to remember in fighting this disease is not to give up hope.  There are many of us here working with a sense of urgency to find a solution. Many new drugs have been approved that can extend life for a short period of time.  Take advantage of these drugs, as it is just a matter of time before we can find the cure. Fight for life and never give up hope.
